Manual Tester Job Description Job Title: Manual Tester Department: Quality Assurance (QA) Reports To: QA Lead or Manager Summary: The Manual Tester plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications through thorough manual testing. They perform a variety of tasks to identify and report bugs, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience for end users. Key Responsibilities: Execute test cases as per specifications and requirements documents. Analyze and review system functionalities for discrepancies and adherence to user stories. Identify and report software defects clearly and concisely, including detailed steps and expected vs. actual results. Prioritize bugs based on severity and impact. Collaborate with developers and QA analysts to reproduce and investigate issues. Provide feedback on user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the software. Participate in test planning and design activities. Maintain and update test documentation as needed. Stay up-to-date with the latest testing methodologies and best practices. Skills and Qualifications: Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies (e.g., black-box testing, white-box testing, exploratory testing). Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying discrepancies. Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems logically. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in test case management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail). Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) is beneficial. Additional Valuable Skills: Experience with specific testing domains (e.g., web applications, mobile applications, games). Knowledge of SQL or other database queries. Understanding of bug tracking systems and reporting tools. Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Google Docs). Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. 1-2 years of experience in manual software testing, or equivalent, desired.
