Kestrel Precision Spraying Drone Under the Royal Academy of Engineers HEPSSA project with KNUST and other institutions, my team and I designed and fabricated an Agricultural spraying drone. I performed the following duties or tasks to make it a successful project.
• Tested and assessed an existing agricultural sprayer UAV and wrote a technical report detailing its pitfalls and suggested feasible modifications.
• Prepared status technical reports about the progress of the project and communicated the insights of these reports to the HEPSSA Leaders through PowerPoint presentations.
• Compared to the previous UAV, I utilised Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with SolidWorks to design a lighter Hexa-copter frame decreasing weight of the UAV by 26 percent.
• Performed CAD Assembly of all UAV parts in SolidWorks to avoid assembly conflicts.
• Performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of UAV CAD models in SolidWorks and modified CAD models accordingly for strength.
• Put together a Bill of Materials (BOM) for the agricultural sprayer UAV project.
• Performed 3D-Printing and laser cutting during fabrication of the UAV while reducing material wastage by more than 70 percent.
