Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Would you like to volunteer some free time to make Toronto more sustainable?
Work Environment: Remote
Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is seeking four or five volunteers, to dedicate 3-4 hours a week to develop a Database of Sustainability Projects for the city. This will be maintained on the Toronto Biosphere Eco-City (TBEC) website, which is under development. The database will allow residents to have an overview of current sustainability projects in their city. This will help them understand more about Toronto’s sustainability activities, find what interests them, and even contact managers for more information.
ABOUT BIOSPHERE ECO-CITIES
A Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) includes an urban core and the surrounding countryside. It uses simple Themes and Tools to engage people and develop a culture of sustainability in a city. BEC’s 10 Tools of Sustainability – Transportation, Energy, Design, Habitat, Food, Natural Capital, Waste, Health, Recreation, and Sense of Place – represent all areas of direct action for sustainability. They serve as a framework for the database.
BECC is a national charity that supports development of BECs. Currently there are five BEC initiatives in Canada – Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. For more information on the program visit https://BioEcoCity.org.
