Volunteers for Edmonton BEC Join the Movement for a Sustainable Edmonton! Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Would you like to volunteer some free time to make Edmonton more sustainable? Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is seeking three or four volunteers, to dedicate 3-4 hours a week to continue development of a Database of Sustainability Projects for the city. Maintained on the Edmonton Biosphere Eco-City website (Edmonton.BioEcoCity.org), the database allows residents to have an overview of sustainability projects in their city. This allows them to learn more about sustainability, and about their city, and even contact managers of interesting projects. This work is conducted online, so volunteers do not need to be residents of Edmonton although they may be. ABOUT BEC A Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) includes an urban core and the surrounding countryside. It uses simple Themes and Tools to engage people and develop a culture of sustainability in a city. BEC’s 10 Tools of Sustainability – Transportation, Energy, Design, Habitat, Food, Natural Capital, Waste, Health, Recreation, and Sense of Place – represent all areas of direct action for sustainability. They serve as a framework for the database. BECC is a national charity that supports development of BECs. Currently there are five BEC initiatives in Canada – Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. For more information on the program visit https://BioEcoCity.org. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please send your resume or questions to masuma.roushan@gmail.com. Mention “Development of the Database-Edmonton” in the subject line. We can arrange an online interview at a time convenient to you.
