About

Olajide comes with tremendous passion for research and innovation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Lagos State University. He has attended extensive leadership and management courses, ranging from the British Council, Pan-African University, Alibaba Business School/United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, GE Garage, to Daystar Leadership Academy and the Centre for Enterprise Development and Action Research. To gain hands-on experience in business, he has been collaborating with likeminded individuals to take on socio-economic problems around Africa. He is the founder of Afrimart: an e-commerce platform focused on providing seamless services with the highest level of customer satisfaction-with a variety of products like African antiques, crafts, traditional music instruments, artifacts, traditional attires, traditional games as well as agro-allied products. It is a brand-new business initiative—the very first of its kind for the niche category of African heritage products. The business model is to distribute and export clearly delineated products mainly to earn foreign exchange for injection into the local economy. This is projected to create both direct and indirect jobs along the value chain; stimulate agricultural production and also provide a stable revenue for local craftspeople and rural farmers, with an emphasis on the womenfolk. In recognition of his proven record of civic engagement as well as business and youth leadership, Olajide was inducted in 2015 as a Youth Governance Ambassador by TIE Nigeria, a youth advocacy group supported by the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative and the United States Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria. In addition, he has been awarded the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award to recognize Visions and Visionaries of Africa by Madiba Associates. In 2017, Olajide was selected to join the board of the Nigeria Innovation Summit, an annual event with a focus on the need for the country as a whole—businesses, organisations, entrepreneurs in Nigeria—to become more innovative by applying the principles of innovation to drive sustainable development as the world works together to bridge the digital divide. Olajide was appointed to the position of Co-ordinator for Nigeria’s Southwest region. He successfully mobilized strategic collaboration, participation, support and partnership from interested organizations and agencies across both public and private sectors within the region to realize the objective of the Summit. A participant at the GIC United Nations Office for Project Services, 2020. Olajide was one of a select crop of young people invited to participate in a Youth Enterprise survey programme organized by the World Bank in the years 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019. He recently won the Business Excellence Award, for 2019, organized by the World Confederation of Businesses, USA. Olajide also got selected as a National Nominee by the World Summit Awards under the aegis of the United Nations.
