I want to be honest and frank, I don’t have any virtual assistant experience but I know some basic skills that a general virtual assistant must know and I am constantly improving them from time to time by attending various trainings, free webinar courses, and youtube channels.
Why did I choose the Virtual Assistant career?
Since I was in high school I am very passionate when comes to computer work and I also like the ambiance of working and staying at home.
Work Experiences;
Call Center Agent
Handling Telco Account and Customer Service Support;
I was assigned to an International telco account base mainly in the USA, it is a network provider that offers internet plan services, TV subscriptions, and telephone subscriptions. We also handle the billing statement of the customer but only the general information about their subscription and we don’t process any monetary processes. We also introduce to the possible customers the product, but we don’t do the selling we automatically transfer them to our sales account department. Our main task is to answer complaints and queries, and give further resolution to their problem. Such as troubleshooting with their devices, we also do remote navigation and send them technicians if the problem is not with the devices but with the wirings and power issues.
Handling third-party Food delivery services;
This is an International third-party food delivery service, that is mainly based in Europe. My task here is to take customers’ complaints, questions and billing information with regards to their food order such as what time will the food be delivered, Why they did not receive the order, and order cancellations. We don’t mainly sell the products from the restaurant we just do the delivery from the restaurant to the customer. But we don’t have any access to the driver we can only show to them the route information of the driver. If they have questions about the driver we can transfer them to another department for further inquiries.
ESL Teacher to Chinese students;
This was my first remote job. My task is to teach my students the English language by teaching them vocabulary words, English comprehension, and basic English sentence composition, these are for my beginner English Level and also for intermediate level students. For my advanced students such as high school and professional I taught Vocabulary, comprehension, evaluating them in creating their own statements, exam preparation in TOFEL and IELTS, getting ready for college examination or any exam preparation, business English, travel English, Basic Medical English, and many more.
Crewing Assistant
Before my onboarding as a junior officer onboard the vessel, I was a crewing assistant from my previous manning agency. My task is to manage crew certificates, medical appointments, in-house training and outside training appointments, crew line up, travel booking for the crew, contract signing, and email response to the crew or vessel. I am also responsible for keeping their documents up to date before their embarkation onboard date. I was also assigned to the crew reminding them of their training appointment, medical appointment, contract signing appointment, de-briefing and briefing appointments, and seminar appointments.
Seafaring by profession and now an aspiring Virtual Assistant
Life has always been good to me. I was able to experience my profession in a way where I did not suffer too much. I was a scholar from my previous manning agency and I am happy enough with those great opportunities. It is Fate that leads me to where I am now. And I am grateful for everything.
And now life is truly full of surprises there, are good surprises and bad surprises. Fate has led me to become an aspiring Virtual Assistant. And I am happy about this new opportunity.
My task as a Junior officer is to navigate the ship in the shortest and safest possible route and unload or load the cargo from the vessel safely and properly. I have experience in tanker vessels and livestock vessels. My other job description is to comply with Port documentation before arriving at the port and before departure from the port. I am also the responsible officer for sending the requirements to the port and to our company if there are any. Aside from it I also maintain the vessels’ lifesaving and firefighting equipment. I also conduct weekly and monthly quality and health assurance inspections on the vessel to maintain the good shape of the ship and the good health of all the crew.
As an aspiring general Virtual Assistant, I have made myself ready and practiced the possible task that I might handle. I have attended training, attended free webinars, and watched various youtube channels to gain or acquire additional knowledge and skills that I need as a future virtual assistant.
